BISDS - Board and Card Games

Keen on spending fun quality time playing games with friends? Are you itchy to throw dices or play out cards? If you answered yes, then do come on over and join the BISDS Board & Card Game Special Interest Group (BCGSIG)! BCGSIG was established in 2014 by Brother Nicholas Hing. The group’s objective is to prepare a platform that allows BISDS students of all ages to socialise, make new friends and foster healthy relationships through playing tabletop games. BCGSIG values such relationships as it helps build constructive spiritual bonds to enhance teamwork and co-operation when organising temple projects and events in the future. The group also aims to promote tabletop gaming amongst children while also drawing their attention away from the regular norm of playing digital games on mobile phones, game consoles and computers.

Meetings are conducted fortnightly on Sundays with attending members selecting a game to be played together. The teacher advisor would brief the rules to the members if they were unsure how to play the game, whilst also helping to clear up any doubts or disputes that arose during game play. Games that are available to be played include family titles such as Monopoly, Chess, Uno, Boggle and Reversi. The group also has some designer games, games that are different from the usual familiar family titles. These games include titles like Piece of Cake, Sold Out, Flash Point and The Lord of the Rings. Additionally, BCGSIG welcomes members to bring their own games from home to play as well during meetings. The group currently owns about 19 board games and 6 card games. These games were either purchased or donated by generous temple or BISDS staff members. The group caters to members with an age range of 6 years old to adult.

BCGSIG hopes to acquire more games in the future to continue making the group attractive and interesting by adding more variety to the games available for members.  The group also welcomes any donations of unwanted second hand games.

BCGSIG currently organizes meetings at the Global Indian International School in Classroom at block B, located on the first floor. Meetings are held from 8.00am to 9.30am.  For schedule, please refer to the School planner.
